Not even ice cream trucks are sacred, it seems.

At a recent pro-Palestine protest at Brooklyn College, attendees noticed something bizarre. Outside of the protest, there was a bright pink ice cream truck — noticeably different from the white Mister Softee trucks that typically populate New York streets. Not only that, but there was a prominent security camera on the front of it. What the hell was this thing?

Upon looking inside, attendees quickly developed a theory. It wasn’t an ice cream van, but a police surveillance truck — as evidenced by the NYPD keychain that was in the ignition.

So, was it? We wouldn’t put it past the NYPD, who have previously been caught using quasi-legal cell phone trackers.

However, it doesn’t appear that this is an NYPD vehicle. Instead, it’s just a dude who runs a private ice cream truck, and he’s having a pretty fun time being accused of being a covert NYPD spy.

In one post on his Instagram, he shows his security camera with the caption “NYPD undercover ice cream truck is watching you,” followed by a laughing emoji. In another, he shows off the offending keychain, again joking about him being an undercover spy.

So, he’s not a spy. Or is that just the perfect cover???
